Kay Gardner Beltline Trail “Lost Stations”

VFA worked closely with City of Toronto staff and the local Councillor to develop a conceptual vision for the development of multiple rest “stations” along the popular Kay Gardner Beltline Trail.  The stations were intended to act as rest/meeting points along the trail while referencing the “lost” train stations that once existed along the Beltline’s commuter rail line before the turn of the 20th century.   Three stations (near Yonge Street, Avenue Road and Eglinton Avenue) were built and each included wood deck platforms, custom weathered steel elements with signage, attractive benches and extensive pollinator and native plantings.  Each station also featured an interpretive plaque with a sample of the architectural plans for the original lost train stations.
